“With Survivors, Always” – A Call to Action in 2025
October is recognized nationally as Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and this year’s theme, “With Survivors, Always,” reminds us of the importance of standing alongside those who have endured abuse. The Huron County Prosecutor’s Office reaffirms its commitment to protecting victims, supporting survivors, and holding offenders accountable.
Understanding Domestic Violence
Domestic violence is not limited to physical harm. It can take many forms, including emotional abuse, financial control, isolation, intimidation, and threats. At its core, domestic violence is about one person exerting power and control over another. Recognizing the warning signs is the first step in preventing further harm and supporting survivors in our community.
In Huron County, families, friends, coworkers, and neighbors all play an important role in raising awareness and offering support. When we speak up, educate ourselves, and extend compassion to survivors, we help build a safer and stronger community.
Our Commitment to Justice
The Huron County Prosecutor’s Office remains steadfast in its responsibility to protect the community and ensure accountability for those who commit acts of domestic violence. Prosecutor Timothy Rutkowski emphasized:
“Our office will continue to vigorously prosecute individuals who harm their family members. Survivors deserve justice, and our community deserves safety.”
